  • Clean water system installed by First Pres Church at Centennial Camp in Sololá, Guatemala - November 2007.<br />

Standard Clean Water System:<br />
Purpose: Bacteriological disinfection; removal of chlorine resistant organisms.<br />
Design: Batch treatment process with an integrated bottling station.<br />
Capacity: Based upon tank size; typically a 300 gallon tank.<br />
Process Time: 300 gallons per hour at 5 gpm per batch.<br />
Key Methods: Filtration, micro filtration and ozone disinfection.<br />
Installation Cost: Hardware - $2,500<br />
Operational Costs which includes replacement costs (excluding labor): per 100,000 gallons: one-half cent to one cent per gallon.

  • The projects come with some real labor.  Digging the ditch for the incoming water pipes for some of us desk jockeys was strenuous work at approximately 7,500 foot elevation.<br />

Inner courtyard of church in Panajachel.  This church will be serving clean water to its neighbors after our teams install a Clean Water System here in June 2008.  Goal is to install 2 water systems in June 2008, one in Panajachel and the other in San Pedro, across Lake Atitlan.<br />

If funds allow, teams will return again in November to install another two Clean Water Systems.  We hope to make two trips a year training people in health and hygene and installing as many clean water systems as funding allows.<br />
