2020 Calendar Photos

01 - January: View of the snow capped Sierra Nevada Range seen from Lewis Hill just north of Porterville.

02 February: Yokohl Creek flowing nicely from the spring rains.

03 March: The beginning blooms of wildflowers can be seen along a small creek in Yokohl Valley.

04 April: Lush green grasses and wildflowers inside a corral up Yokohl Drive.

05 May: Spring rains help grow the grasses that feed the roaming cattle on these beautiful hills covered with Sycamores and Oaks..

06 June: This is a favorite windmill (also retrofitted with solar panels) in Yokohl Valley. If you look close you can see the hawk on top of the rocks.

07 July: A red Tailed Hawk using the higher vantage point of the rocks to search for its next meal.

08 August: Probably the most common wildlife seen in Yokohl Valley are the thousands of Ground Squirrels. Lots of acorns to eat and store away. They are probably a good reason there are so many hawks in the area as well.

09 September: Acorn Woodpeckers can be seen collecting the acorns from the foothill oaks and storing them for later use in custom drilled holes in wood of all sorts. It is a common sight to see fence posts used for storage.

10: October: A beautiful Ferruginous Hawk overlooking his fields of prey.

11 November: View looking west from Yokohl Valley Road.

12 December: Everyone who drives over Rocky Hill loves the view of the fertile San Joaquin Valley seen below.
