The Tulare County Foothills are full of life year round. This calendar shares images taken in the spring of 2019 focusing the lens behind Exeter's Rocky Hill and along Yokohl Drive down Porterville way. The spring of 2019 was spectacularly wet creating extended vistas of green hills.

  • 08 August: Probably the most common wildlife seen in Yokohl Valley are the thousands of Ground Squirrels.  Lots of acorns to eat and store away. They are probably a good reason there are so many hawks in the area as well.

  • 09 September: Acorn Woodpeckers can be seen collecting the acorns from the foothill oaks and storing them for later use in custom drilled holes in wood of all sorts.  It is a common sight to see fence posts used for storage.
