Crispie Pear (Pyrus communis X Pyrus pyrifolia)
Fruit of this inter-specific pear hybrid are of medium size with a typical European pyriform shape and a light yellow, lemony background color. Fruit after four weeks storage and seven days shelf life developed a medium to strong Bartlett aroma and a strong European pear flavor. The flesh is crisp. Had an Asian texture at first and changed to more of a Bartlett texture with ripening. It is moderately to very juicy. Fruit needs to be picked and sold for fresh market. This selection has good potential for the local fresh market but is not suitable for export. Very grower friendly, heavy crops, harvests just after Williams. In 2007, is a week ahead of Bartlett, has a narrow harvest window, crops heavy on first and second year, is fire blight susceptible, has a Bartlett flavor, is juicy and fine, the Bartlett flavor gets stronger as ripens.
