Deciduous conifer with soft, delicate, Redwood-like foliage. Has attractive pink new spring growth. Takes sun or part shade. Fast growing. Once established can take wet soils. Reddish-brown fall color.
Thought to be extinct but was discovered growing in remote regions of China in the 1940s. It is a prehistoric plant with leaf samples having been found in fossils.
Mature height is 50-90 feet with a spread of 15-25 feet.
Cold hardy to U.S.D.A. Zone 5.
